FTSE shares end in the red
FTSE 100 shares ended in the red on Thursday after the latest batch of mixed economic data and company reports.
The benchmark index fell 0.41 percent to 5,617.26 points.
Lloyds Banking Group (LBG) was the most traded stock, seeing 172 million units change hands, followed by Vodafone, which saw 82 million shares switch owners.
The day's top performer was Petrofac, which added 39 pence -- or 3.36 percent -- to finish at 1201, followed by Kingfisher, which added 7 pence -- or 3.23 percent -- to stand at 223.7.
Kazakhmys was the biggest faller, dropping 49 pence -- or 3.17 percent -- to close at 1496, followed by Fresnillo which shed 25 pence -- or 2.88 percent -- to finish at 842.
Meanwhile, sterling climbed against the dollar and the euro.
At 17:04, the pound was trading at 1.5050 dollars, up from 1.4978 at the same time on Wednesday, while the currency stood at 1.1004 euros, ascending from 1.0967 over the same period.
