F5 Networks 1Q profit may beat expectations

F5 Networks gives 1Q profit outlook above, sales target below Wall Street's expectations

F5 Networks Inc., whose products manage and route computer network traffic, said Wednesday it expects fiscal first-quarter earnings of 26 cents to 27 cents per share, above Wall Street's expectations.

For the quarter ending Dec. 31, analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expect a profit of 24 cents per share.

The company forecast revenue of $172 million to $174 million.

Analysts are predicting sales of $174.9 million.

Shares jumped $2.22, or 11.2 percent, to $22 in after-hours trading. The stock had closed up 4 cents at $19.78.
